What kind of kayaks do you use for rentals and tours?
We use sit on top kayaks. They are 12 feet long, stable and
track straight. We have four available. We also have four
10 foot kayaks. They are also stable just not as long, but
you knew that.
Our 12 foot kayaks support 300 lbs.
Our 10 foot kayaks support 230 lbs.
Our 10'-6" SUP's support 210 lbs.
Our 14 foot tandem kayak supports 430 lbs.
Will I get wet?
You will get a little wet. Drips and splashes may get in to
the cockpit. You should wear water shoes or sneakers that
you don't mind getting wet. We will help you in and out of
your kayak attempting to keep you from getting wet.
What if I’m real tall or very short or
XXL?
Our kayaks will fit anyone from 30 lbs to 300
lbs max and up to 6 foot 4 inch tall paddlers.
Our Double will hold up to 500 Lbs max.
Do I need to know how to swim?
No, but it helps to feel comfortable in and close to water.
Your PFD will keep you afloat if you accidentally go into
the water. There are only a few parts of the tour where we
paddle over deep water. In most, but not all cases, if you
fall in the water you will be able to stand up.
What should I bring?
You should bring some shoes that you don't mind getting wet.
A hat is always a good idea to help keep the sun off you.
Sunscreen.
Bring only what you can afford to get wet!
Many guests bring cameras and binoculars. We provide a dry
box for your keys and other items.
What kinds of wildlife will I see?
Each trip is different, but we have seen on past trips, osprey,
anhinga, Ibis, pelicans, egrets, herons, and various shore
birds as well as other migrating birds. In the water we may
see dolphins, manatees, otters, rays, and a wide variety of
feeding fish and bait fish.
Can I bring my kids?
Yes. But remember they will be paddling in their own kayak.
Our kayaks are suited to ages 12 and
up. As parents, it will be your discretion
to decide if your child is prepared to make the entire journey.
Our trips average around 3 miles with a rest stop in the middle.
If you want to bring your kids along, please let us
know ahead of time so we can make special arrangements.
What if it rains?
Our utmost concern is the safety of our paddlers. A little
rain won’t cancel a trip, but any lightning will. High
winds may postpone a tour. If a guided tour must be canceled
due to bad weather, you will be offered an alternate trip
or a refund.
How do I schedule a trip?
Give us a call and we'll work with you to set the time and
area that fits your request. Head over to our Reservations
page for an easy 3 step process for scheduling a rental
or tour.
Do you drive us to the launch site?
No, we will meet you at the determined launch site depending
on your tour choice. There is plenty of parking at each site.
Your Kayak excursion starts and ends at the launch site. On
rentals of 4 or 8 hours we offer a free shuttle service back
to your original launch point. Call for more information on
our shuttle service.
